How to Optimise Images and Files
Reducing Image Size:
Large images can slow down page loading, affect layout display, and may not meet platform upload requirements. Reducing your image size ensures faster uploads, maintains visual clarity, and helps keep your event pages looking professional across all devices.
Compressing PDFs
Use Adobe Acrobat’s File > Compress PDF option
Or try Adobe's online tool

Write a Great Event Description
This is your opportunity to set the tone and purpose of your Event.
The purpose — what students should walk away with (e.g. inspiration, confidence, practical insight, knowledge of pathways)
What the role model will do — panel, Q&A, workshop, judging, etc.
Any equipment or clothing requirements (e.g. PPE, warm clothes, tools)
Whether you provide audio/visual equipment or if the role model should bring materials
Whether there’s a meet & greet for soft skill building (e.g. handshake, small talk)
Details on the type of role model you're looking for (unusual career, relatable journey, STEM link)
Note: In the example below, we’ve deliberately used line breaks to create short, easy-to-read paragraphs. Use this approach when writing your own description to improve readability.
Example:
"We’re hosting a STEM Discovery Day to give Year 9 students the chance to explore future pathways in technology and health sciences. Our aim is to inspire curiosity and boost confidence by connecting students with relatable industry professionals.
The session will include a 30-minute speaker panel followed by small group rotations where students can ask questions directly. We’ll provide a microphone, projector, and all tech equipment. No special clothing is needed.
We’re looking for a rfole model with a unique career journey — ideally someone in digital health or biomedical science — who can speak openly about their education, career shifts, and what keeps them motivated."

In-Person or Virtual
Would you like the role model to attend in person at your venue, or are you happy for them to join virtually via Zoom or Teams?
In Person — speakers visit your school

Engaging the Right Role Model for your Event
Once your event is live, role models can view it from their own dashboards. If it matches their interests, they may reach out to you directly. Meanwhile, you can proactively search the Role Model Directory to find a match. Here’s what you’ll see:
Default Profiles — role models who haven’t completed their profile after signing up (limited details)
Completed Profiles — contain a bio, industry tags, availability preferences, and links to external websites or LinkedIn
We recommend prioritising completed profiles to better assess alignment with your session goals. Click any card to view more details and invite the role model directly.
